
Who is your teacher?
Christel is a native French speaker who was educated in Montpellier and Aix-en-Provence (South of France). The focus for her master's degree was on didactic and practices in teaching and learning French as a second language. She has had a wide range of teaching experiences overseas as well as within Australia and researched on approaches created to accelerate language acquisition.
She taught in bilingual language schools, at L'Alliance Française, at SOCOG (the main press center in preparation for the Sydney Olympic Games) and organised poetry recitals and plays in French.
She started teaching at the University of Sydney in 2004 within the French and Francophone Studies Department, where she has been coordinating courses and tutoring at beginners, intermediate and advanced levels and has been co-organising French poetry competitions and French theatre sports. In 2016, she received the Dean's Citation for Excellence in Tutorials at the University of Sydney and in 2019 she has been awarded the Dean's Citation for Excellence in Teaching/ Design.
Christel is also extending her expertise of the French language and culture to anyone who wishes to become proficient in French through individual or group classes. With her experience, love for teaching her language and recognition for her achievements, Christel makes it her mission to offer her students French teaching classes tailored to their level, needs and objectives.
